Thing #1

So, I'm supposed to reflect and write about which life-long learning habit that I find easiest and which I find most difficult. The most difficult habit for me to embrace is that I should begin with the end in mind. I am definitely not a planner. Most of the time I "shoot from the hip". I prefer to assess a situation and improvise my way through it. Honestly, through this process, I learn a lot about myself and others. The habit that I am most comfortable with is viewing problems as challenges. Actually, a trumpet teacher of mine used to suggest "viewing obstacles as opportunities". I have tried to adopt this philosophy and apply it whenever I am confronted with an "obstacle".

I hope to eventually become not only be familiar with the tools available in Web 2.0 but also confident enough to incorporate them into my teaching and personal exploration of the world. As I constructed this blog, I must admit that I am not as comfortable with much of this technology as I want to be. I think that it offers some wonderful possibilities in education and I certainly wish to have access to those possibilities.

I guess that this is step one!

  1. Hey Scott! We should study together because I am a planner, and I can help you with your "shoot from the hip" problem. :)Actually, I think that improvising your way through a problem is a great way to learn about yourself and how you problem solve. Are you a procrastinator? Or do you just prefer this way of doing things? Great post! I am sure that we will chat soon.
