School 2.0 is made possible by Web 2.0. If we accept the wikipedia article's suggestion that Web 2.0 is defined as a set of applications that allow a vast amount of info and operation sharing, then we must believe that School 2.0 exists as a web-based learning environment that incorporates those tools. I can only begin to imagine how information can be created, edited and shared on a world-wide stage utilizing Web 2.0 in School 2.0.
After reading the "Emerging Technologies" section of the Horizon Report (2008), I believe that School 2.0 is an inevitability. Collaboration Webs and Collective Intelligences can already be found in some schools, organizations and businesses. I am noticing more and more that there is an emphasis on collaborative learning. I believe that the near future will see an even bigger shift into this type of learning. One of the best ways to utilize School 2.0 and Web 2.0 will be to allow this technology to bring people and ideas together.
